The Street Fighting Leopard

Meng 1/35th Leopard 2 A7+ / The Street Fighting Leopard

There is no doubt that the subjects based around the Second World War and even more specifically the German subjects tend to get most of the attention in modelling circles. I’d never considered myself to buy into the whole ‘German’ thing until I took a look at the display case and realised, I had unknowingly stacked the German numbers considerably higher than most of the other Allied offerings. Granted, three tone camouflage is cool, but you can only do it so many times before it starts to get a little repetitive. I felt it was time to spread my wings and try something completely out of the WW2 bubble I’d created for myself, so what better way than to break the shackles and sink my teeth into a big, shiny new modern tank?

There are a few obvious choices when it comes to the Modern subjects, but the deal was sealed when I saw pictures of the Leopard 2 in a unique experimental urban camouflage. I knew this was the model I had to build, and I set about ordering the kit and getting started with the planning for the journey.
