A brief history

fireflyHere is my Canadian subject since I am “Canuck”. This is the Tasca firefly depicted as one of the tanks of the Fort Garry Horse out of Winnipeg This was only my second venture into building Sherman’s so I was not sure how it would come out based on my plan for the kit and how I wanted it to look based on a wartime photo. I sourced some after market tracks for a Chirchill and a Sherman which would make up the homemade appliqué armour fitted onto the tank. The kit once again is out of the box from a build stand point. The spare tracks on the tank are another issue Since I wanted them welded onto the tank and not “Glued” I went about it the same way. By using tamiya epoxy putty I affixed each track length to a small price of putty and attached it to the finished and weathered model In then used my fine Iwata eclipse airbrush and gave each of the 89 home made welds a shot of tamiya light sea gray to depict the scorch marks on the steel. I then hand painted each weld with vallejo oily steel and then added a burnt umber pin wash. After which a tall glass of sailor jerry and Coke was in order. My usual weathering of oil washes and pigments followed.
