Tiki tiger_06Mounted with the battle proven 88mm gun, fewer tanks have struck fear into their enemies quite like the Tiger 1 did. Developed in 1942, the Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf. E, saw combat on all German battlefronts.

Only 1,347 were built between August 1942 and August 1944 as it was somewhat over-engineered. They used expensive materials and were labor intensive to produce. The tank was mechanically reliable however it was prone to certain types of track failures and breakdowns, and limited in range by its high fuel consumption. Due to it’s size and weight (54t), it was difficult to transport and often become immobilised in winter conditions.

Production ceased in 1944 in favour of the Tiger II.
