A brief history

tiger 300There is a specific shot of this tank taken in mid spring of 1944. The photo depicted is the ignored Cousin of the more famous Tiger 1 with the charging knight emblem on it. However I chose this one for two reasons 1 it is a Tiger that has not received a unit camp job yet like the others. Henceforth it has one monotone colour which is always a challenge to perfect. And of course it has those in-ditching logs fastened to the side hull which real adds flair to the vehicle. The kit is the Dragon Zimmerit kit which found to be exceptional. Once again it was built out of the box. But I did update the tracks in favour of fruiel tracks as I’m not a real fan of the DS tracks as of yet. The dark German yellow was achieved by combining tamiya dark yellow with xf- white and a touch of xf-yellow. Pre-shading was done with tamiya flat black. I little colour modulation was done. The heat resistant paint on the gun tube was a mix of tamiya black and tamiya burnt iron. The rest of the tones were achieved with filters, washes and pigments. The unditching logs were talked from one of our shrubs in the back yard. It was surprisingly hard to find something that looked to scale. But I think I nailed it.
